Today ‘sustainability’ has become one of the main issues within design disciplines, which we must consider and incorporate into our designs. As a final proposal for The Sustainability in Higher Education (SHED) Project at the Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT) Gardens Point campus, ‘THE SHED’ is carefully designed to become a sustainability hub. It will become a place where staff, students and citizens share knowledge and participate in sustainability-related workshops and activities. It is also designed to be a place for learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s culture and their knowledge of nature and sustainability.
‘THE SHED’ is designed in the form of ‘Responsive Architecture’ that responds responsibly to the history, the context, the culture, and the people, making THE SHED more interactive not only with people but also with nature.
