G’day!

I am Dongwoo Lee from South Korea. I am a first-year architecture student at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia.

After many trips abroad, I wanted to have and develop different lenses and perspectives to see the world. Before studying architecture, the various countries, cultures and landmarks that I visited and experienced during the many trips overseas were quite similar to each other because I didn’t know how to appreciate them. Since I began this architectural education journey, I have noticed that I am developing various lenses by thinking creatively to come up with new and original ideas, reflecting critically to see what I had missed, and working collaboratively with peers from different and unique backgrounds.

During my first semester, I ran into an interesting quote “architects know everything about something, and engineers know something about everything”. This has been encouraging me to be curious and inquisitive about everything, and to ask questions or research to find answers.

As I have just stepped into the architecture discipline, I still have a long way to go to learn “everything about something”. But I am ready to groove on the long journey, willing to learn from numerous failures and hopefully successes.
